Eight of the South Burnett's best chefs will compete for honours at the
2007 PCA South Burnett Regional Culinary Competition this weekend, part of the
Tarong Mine Wine and Food in the Park Festival.
The competitors will be representing a broad cross-section of the food service industry.
Chefs, apprentices and hospitality students from the Nanango RSL, the Bell Tower Restaurant, SB Food Service Distributors, the Kingaroy Hotel, Kingaroy Hospital Canteen and Kingaroy TAFE will be locking horns in the hotly contested event.
And, for the first time a chef from outside the region will also be competing.
Three-time winner
Steve Gudzinski, (
right), will travel from his new home in the Gold Coast Hinterland in an attempt to wrestle the awards back out of local hands.
The competing chefs will have a frantic 20 minutes on stage to prepare either a main course or dessert, utilising South Burnett regional produce (including peanuts) matched with local wines.
The competition will start at 10:00am in the PCA marquee.
